Questions
The things people ask most. Anything else, email hello@worklocalforestrow.uk.
Is it really free?
Yes. Job seekers never pay, and it never costs anything to apply. Businesses post jobs free. A business can choose to pay £10 to feature a job at the top of the board for 30 days, and that is what keeps it free for everyone else.
Which area does it cover?
Everywhere within five miles of Forest Row village centre, RH18. That takes in East Grinstead, Ashurst Wood, Coleman's Hatch, Wych Cross, Hammerwood, Holtye, Hartfield, Chelwood Gate, Chelwood Common, Sharpthorne, West Hoathly, Withyham, Felbridge, Dormans Park and Nutley. Businesses outside five miles can't post.
How do you keep fake jobs off?
A person checks every business once before its first job goes live: that it's real, that it's where it says, and that the person signing up works there. Every job must show its pay. An automatic check holds back jobs that ask for fees, bank details or WhatsApp-only contact, and anyone can report a job with one click.
Can my employer see that I'm looking?
Not unless you let them. Your profile is never public and never on Google. Businesses only see it if you switch on "open to offers", and then only your first name, village, skills and availability. Your surname, email, phone and CV are only shared with a business you apply to, or whose request you accept.
Do I need a CV?
No. Lots of local jobs don't need one. Your profile and a short note are often enough. If you do upload one, you can see every business that has opened it.
I'm 16. Can I use it?
Yes. You'll only see jobs open to 16 and 17 year olds when you filter for them, and businesses can't browse under-18 profiles: you apply, they don't come looking. You must be 16 or over to sign up.
How long do jobs stay up?
30 days, unless the business picks an earlier closing date or renews it. When a job is filled, the business marks it, and the page says so for a week before it comes down.
How long do you keep my details?
Applications and any CV sent with them are deleted six months after the job closes. If you don't log in for a year we email you, and if you still don't, we delete your account a month later. You can delete everything yourself at any time from your account page.
Is this an employment agency?
No. We publish jobs and profiles. We don't choose candidates, recommend anybody to an employer, or take a cut. The business and the applicant deal with each other directly.
Who runs it?
Ferris Creative, a small web studio in Forest Row, built it and runs it as a community project. It isn't funded by advertising, and nobody's data is sold.
